Excursions may include visits to ancient ruins like Akrotiri, wine tasting at local vineyards, and scenic catamaran cruises around the caldera.

Other popular destinations on the same itinerary may include Mykonos, Athens, Kusadasi (Turkey), and Naples. Onboard, guests can enjoy Royal Caribbean's signature amenities, including family-friendly activities, fine dining, entertainment, and wellness options.

WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO TAKE?
For the most current government requirements, please go to:  http://travel.state.gov/

WHAT ABOUT MOTION SICKNESS?
Ships today are so well stabilized that most of the time you won't notice you are even moving! It's a good idea though to take along some motion sickness precaution (follow the directions on the box) as well as aspirin and sunscreen. If you do have a problem on board, all ships have a doctor and a nurse aboard. And be sure not to forget any prescription drugs you are taking. These should be put in your carry-on-luggage. Consult your physician before taking any medication.

IS IT BETTER TO TAKE A SHORE EXCURSION OR EXPLORE PORTS OF CALL ON MY OWN?
A lot of that is really up to you! Most ships include a program of their shore excursions with your cruise documents but if not, you will have one in your cabin when you board the ship. We recommend that you plan and schedule your excursions before you board so that your vacation is truly a vacation. We have access to some of the best shore excursions in various ports, and can help you choose one that is right for you and your budget. We recommend considering at least one shore excursion in order to truly experience your port of call.

DO I NEED TO PACK A TUXEDO OR FORMAL DRESS?
Cruising has become much more of a casual vacation, even on more formal lines. Plus with airlines charging to check bags, it's best to pack light if possible. Cruise lines assign daily dress codes from resort casual to formal nights. Daytime is always casual.

For formal nights, ladies will need a cocktail dress, gown or dressy pantsuit and suit or dinner jacket with slacks for men.

HOW DO I PAY FOR ITEMS ON BOARD AND IN PORT?
The Cruise Lines will open an onboard account for bar purchases, soft drinks, souvenirs, to pay for shore excursions, etc, which you can settle by credit card, travelers checks or cash at the end of the cruise. The purser's office will also cash travelers checks for you. In addition, most of the duty-free shops on board and most shops in port will also cash travelers checks. Most shops in port will accept major credit cards as well as American dollars or travelers checks. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CASH PERSONAL CHECKS ON BOARD THE SHIP.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON ON BOARD THE SHIP, OR FIND OUT ABOUT SHORE EXCURSIONS?
There will be all kinds of "goodies" about this in your cabin when you arrive and prior to sailing is a good time to explore and get your bearings as to where the dining room, gym, lounges etc. are located. There will be a daily program of activities put in your cabin each night for the next day. For first-timers, it's best to work with your Cruise Planners Travel Advisor to seek the best possible options. Through their knowledge and contacts, your advisor will recommend an excursion perfect for you and your budget. It is recommended that shore excursions be prebooked so once you board the ship, your days are already planned and all you need to do is relax.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY LUGGAGE AFTER I LEAVE IT AT THE AIRPORT (OR PORT, IF I AM DRIVING)?
If you are using the cruise line's airfare program, you will affix the luggage tags sent with your cruise documents and check your luggage at the airport. The next time you see it will be in your stateroom! There are a few ports where you will need to claim your luggage at the airport--this will be indicated in your cruise documents and, again, call me if you have any questions. If you are flying but NOT using the cruise line's airfare program you still need to affix your cruise line tag but you will need to claim your own luggage at the airport baggage area when you arrive in your port city and take it with you to the port. If you are driving to the port, you will check your luggage when you arrive at the port, and they will take your bags to your stateroom.

BOARDING CHECKLIST:

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Passport, if applicable
  • eDocs (one copy per stateroom)
  • Luggage labels with bag tags
  • Credit card for onboard expenses
  • Small bag with essentials
  • Flying with a REAL ID. Beginning May 7, 2025, you’ll need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license to board a domestic flight, per the Department of Homeland Security and TSA.

Ports of Call

Civitavecchia (Rome) (Days 1, 8)

For centuries the ancient port of Civitavecchia has served as the gateway to magnificent Rome. Its a city so immersed in history, you'll find yourself drifiting back to a distant time. Home of Michelangelos Sistine Chapel, Rome flourishes today as she did in her Golden Age. Experience Rome, a city of colossal ruins, majestic cathedrals and a golden past, worthy of many return visits.
Attractions & Activities
Experience the history of Rome as you wander around the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Santorini (Day 3)

Perched at the very top of precipitous cliffs, Santorini towers above its original harbor and was once reached only by foot or mule. Today a cable car is the best route. The island scenery is unique in all the world with jagged outcroppings of red and black lava and stairways cut deep in the cliffsides. Buried under volcanic ash in a cataclysmic explosion during the 16th century BC, the ruins of ancient Thera are a great "find" for archaeologists.
Attractions & Activities
Santorini's spectacular caldera is a vestige of what was probably the biggest volcanic eruption in recorded history, believed by some to have caused the disappearance of Atlantis. The island's violent volcanic history is visible everywhere you look - in black-sand beaches, earthquake-damaged dwellings and raw cliffs of lava plunging into the sea.

Ephesus (Day 4)

Once the commercial heart of the ancient world, Ephesus is now a must-see highlight on any journey through Turkey. This prosperous city, known for its lavish architecture funded by its wealth and influential patrons, was devoted to the goddess Artemis. Her grand temple—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—was rebuilt multiple times, with its final version dating to the third century B.C. Today, visitors can explore remarkable ruins, including a theater, gymnasium, agora, baths, and the iconic Library of Celsus.

Mykonos (Day 5)

Beautifully reflected in a golden light, the white-washed fishing lodges, charming chapels and windmills of Mykonos present visitors with a picture-perfect enchanted island. Spend private time on one of many beaches or wander through the Venice Quarter where tiny cottages perch precariously on cliffs above the sea.
Attractions & Activities
Mykonos is famous for its sand and sea. Get lost looking out at the endless waters of the Aegean Sea as you grab a little sun on one of its beautiful beaches.

Naples (Day 7)

Naples the diva of Italy. Voluptuous, vivacious and vibrantly alive. All the marvelous sights, scents and sounds of Southern Italy are here. It's where pasta was invented and where the first pizza was tossed. And in the ashen ruins of Pompeii, see where ancient Romans came to play, only to be lost under Vesuvius fire and fury.
Attractions & Activities
While you're in the area, you'll want to visit Pompeii, one of the most famous excavation sites in the world. A thriving city 1,900 years ago, it was devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. when 30 feet of volcanic ash and pumice stone covered it. Enter Pompeii by the sea gate and take a short walk to the hub of the city: the Forum. View the lavish temples and porticoes that lay beneath the ash for centuries.
